Pop! Goes the Weasel

Pop! Goes the Weasel

All around the mulberry bush,
The monkey chased the weasel.
The monkey thought ’twas all in fun.
Pop! goes the weasel.
A penny for a spool of thread,
A penny for a needle.
That’s the way the money goes.
Pop! goes the weasel.
Up and down the City Road,
In and out of the Eagle,
That’s the way the money goes.
Pop! goes the weasel.
Half a pound of tuppenney rice,
Half a pound of treacle,
Mix it up and make it nice,
Pop! goes the weasel.

As your bright and tiny spark Lights the traveler in the dark, Through I know not what you are, Twinkle, twinkle, little star. Twinkle, twinkle, little star, How I wonder what you are. Up above the world so high, Like a diamond ...

Where is Thumbkin

Origin Not much is known about the origins of “Where is Thumbkin,” a children’s song sung to the tune of “Frère Jacques” and mimics its structure. Many alternate verses of the rhyme exist.
